Finding the NBA's next SUPERSTAR: Paolo Banchero scouting report

Searching for the next NBA superstar: Paolo Banchero

Year after year, NBA teams desperately search for that one player who can put them back on the map; A player who not only puts their franchise back into the NBA playoff picture but a player who can fill the seats. There has never been a time in the history of the sport where rookies had as many expectations and weight on their shoulders as they do now, some players live up to these outlandish expectations, others crumble. So, in this series I’ll be diving into this years NBA draft prospects in hopes of finding the next NBA superstar.

Kicking off this series is my #3 prospect this year, Duke’s Paolo Banchero. The former five star from Seattle, Washington, is averaging a very respectable 17.3 points per game on 49.3% shooting from the field, to go along with 7.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.

Pro Comparisons

Chuma Okeke

Chris Webber

Luis Scola +

Paolo is one of the three can’t miss prospects in this draft, and projects to be a very good player in the NBA for a long time. His comparisons to Chua Okeke and Luis Scola are more in regard to his playstyle rather than skill as a player. When I look at Banchero’s footwork I instantly think of Luis Scola who had some of the best footwork in NBA history. If Banchero can work on his three point shooting I have no doubt we have a multiple-time all-star on our hands.
